Video conferencing is a type of communications technology that utilizes voice and video software. It allows users to see and hear each other in realtime and makes natural conversations possible. Plus, on many websites, using the software is totally FREE! To try video conferencing, users should have: a computer, a webcam, a microphone and a broadband internet connection. Video conferencing has many applications to teaching and social connections within the professional teacing field. Ideas for learning to use the innovation

Teacher uses for the innovation

  • Make lessons more engaging and exciting
  • One way to communicate with other teachers from local or international schools
  • Saves money on field trips
  • Invite guest speakers into the classroom, even if they live in a different state or country
  • Hold parent teacher conferences for parents who cannot make it into the classroom
  • Collaboration between teachers and administrators

Student uses for innovation

  • Learning how to use the technology
  • More opportunities to learn in different ways
  • Great tool to gain cultural awareness
